D.C. Anthony is an oil painter based in Chester County, Pennsylvania, working in the tradition of chiaroscuro. His still lifes isolate quiet, overlooked subjects — a moth on a burnt match — within deep fields of darkness, holding them still long enough to be truly seen.
Each painting is built around a single, sharp point of light: a deliberate method for anchoring an overactive mind and sharpening attention. He works in patient glaze layers over a lean block-in, a slow process guided by his motto “die unfinished” — stay curious, and treat the canvas, like the world around it, as never truly done.
A member of the Chester County Art Association, his work has been shown in several of its exhibitions and is held in private collections.
