About
I am an oil painter based in Chester County, Pennsylvania, exploring the tension found in "in-between" spaces—the friction where comfort meets unease and stillness feels heavy.
My practice is rooted in a balance of classical technique and modern surrealism. This approach is a carryover from my background as a professional pastry chef and graduate of The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. I’ve traded my knives in the kitchen for the brushes and an easel, but still rely on the similar classical techniques with a modern imagination.
In the studio, I use a sharp, single-point light source to isolate subjects between absolute focus and the surrounding dark. This process began as a personal necessity—a way to quiet an anxious mind and anchor an overly active brain. By using realism to capture the "logic of a dream," I aim to create scenes that feel familiar yet undeniably off-balance.
I work under the motto "die unfinished." It is a daily reminder to stay curious and to ensure that my exploration of the canvas—and the world—is never truly done.
