For 2026

While 2024 began my artistic journey, 2025 is where I discovered my creative voice. I found my sweet spot in classical realism and modern surrealism. I focused on capturing shadows in dramatic lighting, studied techniques such as chiaroscuro, tenebrism, and focused on minimalism. Less really is more, as long as the less is focused.

For 2026 I want to allocate my creative energy to capturing the moment you go from sleep to dreaming, the in-between. Where the body relaxes, let’s go, and imagination and subconscious take hold of the brain. Where anything can feel real, happen, and take shape.

I’d also like to concentrate on new styles. I typically paint still life, but I want to start studying anatomy and portraits. I recently got to know an acrobat who was kind enough to lend me a photo to practice with. Right before this post, I attended the Chester County Art Association Draw-a-thon where myself along with many others sketched live models. I found it to be incredibly satisfying and a touch outside of my comfort zone. Ultimately, I think I did well, but I can’t wait to attend another to keep practicing.

Along with painting, I am focused on finishing two short stories that I have been working on for the last year or so. Both stories will connect to the existing stories (Fisherman, and, Where the Daisies Do Grow) I wrote several years ago. My goal in writing is that everything is connected, no matter which story you read first.

I want to end this post with a huge thank you to my wife for her unwavering support in my artistic journey and creativity. Id also like to thank the CCAA for their commitment to local arts. Lastly, to everyone who has liked, shared, purchased work, and supported me while I discover where I want to go next.

Thank you, and love to all,

D.C.Anthony
